Ruup & Form: Live Performance - London - November 2024

Works
Overview

Crying of The Neck was a live MRS ROE performance at Ruup & Form's central London gallery that reinterpreted Wiltshire harvest rituals through a feminist lens. Developed during a residency at 101 Outdoor Arts and echoing the spirit of Greenham Common’s womxn-led protests, this piece subverted ancient fertility practices.

MRS ROE disrupted feminine craft and harvest traditions and wove audience members into her ritual through shared acts of binding, balance, and plaiting. Themes of community care, protest, and ancient knowledge came alive as the audience participated in receiving and sharing gifts. MRS ROE transformed a symbol of harvest completion into a potent commentary on bodily autonomy and collective resistance. Through a mix of sound, movement, and interaction, Crying of the Neck offered a deeply symbolic and immersive exploration of power, fertility, and reclamation.

This was the third of four seasonal events and the Winter performance will follow on the 1st February 2025 leading to a solo exhibition in June 2025.
